Thanks to the award of nearly £64,000 from the Coronavirus Community Support Fund, distributed by The National Lottery Community Fund, our work in delivering activities to support people in Islington can continue.

Because of the pandemic and the subsequent national lockdown, like many other charities and local companies, we lost a large part of our income and there were fears that we would not be able to continue providing services to help children, young people and our community groups.

Thanks to the generosity of individuals in the neighbourhood, we raised over £16,000.  Combined with this Lottery grant, it means that our work can carry on, with our staff and volunteers able to focus on what we do best: through the Pre-school, helping local families to give their young children the best start in life; through the Youth Club, engaging young people on site, off site and online to address the latest challenges thrown at them by COVID-19; through the provision of space for services such as the free Islington Legal Advice Centre and the addiction self-support groups badly hit by lockdown isolation…providing a COVID SAFE environment.

Our thanks go to The National Lottery Community Fund and to the Government for making this possible.  With Islington, along with the rest of London, moving into Tier 2 last weekend, we are especially grateful for news of this funding now.  It gives us the confidence to continue our services through these coming winter months of uncertainty’.
