Partners and Supporters Mary’s is all about community, that means doing things together. We work with a number of partners to respond to the needs of disadvantaged children, young people and adults. Communities are diverse and so are our partnerships. Some of the organisations we work with provide practical support to the delivery of our services. Others help behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly. Businesses There are lots of opportunities for businesses to be involved, including employee volunteering, fundraising, hosting work experiences placements, giving talks and sharing insight with young people and helping with good and services. Other Organisations We believe that we can accomplish more by working with other organisations. Together with our Programme Partners we have supported young people explore mental health, helped kinship guardians network and support each other and assisted refugees get fit and stay healthy in our community gym. What Can You Do? Every company, big or small, has something special to offer. Whether that’s helping Mary’s to save money by offering services in-kind or getting your employees donating personally, we would be delighted to talk to you about the different ways your company can get involved. Our Partners and Supporters Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants (ICRM) We have been working with the Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants since 2017. They work to create a strong, positive, community for people who have been displaced from their countries of origin due to persecution, war, and poverty. Grandparents Plus Grandparents Plus, a national charity supporting grandparents who have taken on the responsibility of legal guardians for their grandchildren. When they wanted to expand their work into Islington, they approached us. By sharing a cause, the flourishing of their grandchildren, we hope to develop a fruitful partnership that not only helps us reach more local young people in need but supports their carers in dealing with some of the challenges their wards present to them. Our plans include supporting the development of an Islington based network of kinship families, running events and training for those guardians and supporting their young people with our enhanced offer. MiCycle MiCycle held evening workshops at the youth club, teaching the young people to repair and maintain bicycles as well as learning how to cycle safely on the road. This interaction led to the employment of a 17 year old from the local area, who had recently spent a year out of work and education. The young person gained an AQA qualification and his manager noted the young person as built a great rapport with customers. The Felix Project The Felix Project collects fresh, nutritious food that cannot be sold. They deliver this surplus food to charities like ours, so we can provide healthy meals and help the most vulnerable in our society. We use the food delivered by The Felix Project to provide healthy after school snacks to for children and young people or turn into meals. Lee Valley Regional Park Authority Coffee & Computers
