Volunteer Registration Form

We are looking to expand our team of volunteers to help deliver our community services. We’re also introducing two new opportunities to get involved in our school holiday playscheme and facilities team. We offer volunteering opportunities all year round and have loads of opportunities for you to get involved. Time commitment will vary depending on the roles. Let us know what you can contribute, and we will find opportunities that suit you. Below are some examples of how you can get involved.

Youth Club

We are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated, and energetic individuals eager to volunteer with young people between the ages of 10 to 19. As a Youth Club Volunteer, you will assist Mary’s Youth Club team in providing exciting opportunities to young people in Mary’s Youth Club. With excellent listening skills and the ability to empathise, you will build relationships of respect and trust and help maintain a welcoming, caring, safe and fun environment for Mary’s Youth Club members.

We are currently recruiting for two volunteer roles:

  1. Youth Support Workers: Support our open access setting, skills development, health and fitness, creative and social action programmes. (Mon-Fri)

Playscheme (new)

The Playscheme runs throughout Islington’s school holidays for children aged 6 to 12. We run for nine weeks throughout the year: one week in February, two weeks in Easter, one week in May/June, four weeks in summer and one week in October. We run Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM (not bank holidays). There are many activities that we run in the centre, including arts and crafts (lots of) cooking, and playing games in the sports hall. We also have trips to parks and museums. These holiday clubs are great fun for both the children and volunteers. Volunteers may help out in the kitchen to prepare snacks or cook lunch. They may encourage children to join in, mix with their peers and enjoy the outings and work alongside experienced staff to make the holidays magical.

Call for volunteers to help with lunch preparation in the upcoming summer scheme.

We need volunteers during the school holidays from 10.30 AM - 1.30 PM. Please call Sharon on 020 7704 2873 for more details or complete our Volunteer Registration Form

Reception

Mary’s hosts a large number of community groups and classes and our receptions are crucial to providing a great first impression. As a Reception Volunteer, you will be the friendly face that meets and greets visitors and helps facilitate covering the busy reception desk and acting as the first point of contact. The Reception Volunteers help us maintain an efficient and friendly front desk and telephone answering service by supporting us with a range of tasks.

Administrator

Part of Mary’s success is down to its strong back-office processes, all of which supports the work we do for the community. As an administrator, you assist with the day to day running of our service delivery, dealing with queries and direct requests for information, communicating with young people, parents and partners about our programmes and activities, taking bookings and reminding young people about their appointments. You will also help with our database and finance administration. This role would suit you if you are organised, have excellent IT skills and attention to detail. Many admin tasks can be done remotely.

Service Crew (new)

To help with the upkeep and maintenance of our buildings and facilities, we are recruiting a volunteer service crew. Members of the service crew should be confident at tackling maintenance and handyperson tasks. So informal caretaking, competent DIY or even professional trade experience would be beneficial. Tasks might include painting and decorating, simple electrical work (light bulbs and plugs), plumbing, repairing children’s play equipment or building storage racks. We also need help setting up for programmes and events, which could include setting out seating, building a temporary stage, maintaining bicycles or even helping to set up tents at camps.

What can you do?

If you have a particular skill or talent that you would like to contribute to the community, lets us know and we'll see what with can do. You might be great at writing, photography, marketing, HR or tech. We'd love t hear from you.

Join us on your placement, learn about our services, pick up a range of new skills and contribute!

You can see Youth Work come alive if you join our youth club team! We regularly welcome Youth Work students as part of our team at Mary’s Youth Club and find that these partnerships are always mutually beneficial.

Experience what it's like delivering quality childcare by joining our early years childcare team in Mary's Pre-school. We have helped worked with many students over the years, some ended up taking up employment with us following completion of their studies.
